Mostly Spearfishing playtest: how I use your data
Last updated 16 October 2026
I'm Tom (Tez), and I make this game. I'm responsible for your data (the "controller"). You can contact me at t-ez@outlook.com. This is a UK project and I follow UK GDPR.
You must be 18 or over to take part.
What I collect
- Sign-up: your Discord handle, email, graphics card, the games you play, who you play with, roughly how much you play, and how you found the playtest. This is kept in a private sheet that only I can see.
- Tester code: a short code I give you, so your survey answers and play data can be matched to your sign-up.
- Surveys: your answers to the feedback forms.
- Play data (optional): the game asks you once. If you say Yes, it records a random install ID, your tester code, your PC's specs, frame rate, play events (such as your first fish, deaths and where you stopped playing) and any errors. The game never sends your name, email or Steam ID. Say No and nothing is sent.
- Coming back (only if you said Yes): when you open the game and how long you play over the following days. Nothing about anything else on your PC.
- Screen and voice recording (optional): only if you clearly agree, for a session I watch live. Otherwise I just take notes.
Why
To find what's broken or confusing and make the game better. Your data is never sold, and never shared with anyone except the services below that store it for me. My legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Where it's kept
- Play data: Supabase, on servers in London.
- Sign-ups and surveys: Google Forms and Sheets.
- Chat: Discord. Downloads: itch.io.
Like any website, these services see your IP address when your device connects to them. I don't store it with your play data.
How long
- Your sign-up details, my notes and your play data: 12 months, then deleted.
- Recordings: deleted within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw your consent, at any time. Email t-ez@outlook.com and I'll delete your sign-up, recordings and any play data linked to your tester code or install ID. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
